River Season

Members are reminded Sunday 16th June saw the start of the river fishing season which will give them access to six stretches of the river Stour amounting to about three miles of river, and about a mile of the river Colne. With the weather conditions being ideal for plant growth, members are advised to be prepared to clear a swim to fish, however on the Essex bank on the Stour six swims have been cleared upstream of the ditch, and a further seven downstream, and the Rookery stretch of the Stour has sixteen swims cut. Last season the Stour saw several match weights in excess of twenty pounds containing Chub over two pounds, a lot of Perch from a pound to over two. Already in the first week of the season two committee members each had bags of fifteen pound plus and included Roach, small Chub and several Perch between a pound and two and a half.
